Gary Levine, MD
Dedicated Breast Radiologist
Dr. Gary Levine is the Medical Director of the MemorialCare Breast Centers at Long Beach Memorial, Orange Coast Memorial and Saddleback Memorial Medical Centers.
Dr. Levine received his undergraduate degree from Tufts University, graduating magna cum laude with special honors in biological research and his medical degree from Albany Medical College in New York. He completed a residency in Diagnostic Radiology at the University of California, Irvine and became board certified in diagnostic radiology in 1992. He went on to do specialized fellowship training in breast imaging in Sweden, under renowned mammographer, Dr. Laszlo Tabar.
Dr. Levine is an Associate Clinical Professor of Radiology at USC Keck School of Medicine. He is the Past President of the National Consortium of Breast Centers, was on the 2014 Steering Committee of the International World Congress on Breast Disease and has twice served on the Steering Committee of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) – Breast Program. Dr. Levine has authored numerous peer reviewed medical journal articles and book chapters and has been an invited speaker at more than 100 breast care meetings worldwide, speaking on breast imaging and intervention. In 2007 he was named one of the 10 most influential persons in Medicine by Health IT magazine. He is considered a pioneer and expert in the topics of 3D tomosynthesis mammography and breast tumor cryoablation.
Brooke A. Caldwell, MD
Dr. Brooke Caldwell has been affiliated with Memorial Care and MemorialCare Breast Centers since 1995.
Dr. Caldwell graduated Magna Cum Laude from Duke University with a double major in Religion and Psychology. From there she returned home to Oklahoma for medical school at the University of Oklahoma. Dr. Caldwell moved to Southern California to complete her internship in general surgery at the University of Southern California. Diagnostic Radiology Residency followed at the University of California Irvine where she was named Chief Resident her senior year. Dr. Caldwell became board certified in Diagnostic Radiology in 1994 and went on to do a Fellowship in Women’s Imaging at UC Irvine. In 1996, Dr. Caldwell went on to do additional specialized training in breast imaging in Sweden, with renowned Breast Imager Laszlo Tabar.
Dr. Caldwell was recently named as a “Physician Making a Difference,” by the American Cancer Society. She received a proclamation in 2016 from the City of Long Beach for her work in Breast Cancer Detection.
